How it works
t = distance / c, where c = 299,792.458 km/s
Nothing travels faster than light in a vacuum. Even so, sunlight takes about 8 minutes 20 seconds to reach Earth, and over 22 hours to reach Voyager 1. When you look at distant objects, you look back in time.
