⚛️ Mass–Energy Equivalence (E = mc²)
Einstein's famous equation: how much energy is locked inside mass?
Results
- Energy
- 8.9876e+16 joules
- Equivalent
- 21.4808 megatons of TNT
How it works
E = mc²
Mass is frozen energy. One kilogram of anything — rock, water, paper — corresponds to about 9×10¹⁶ joules, roughly 21 megatons of TNT. The Sun shines by converting 4 million tonnes of mass into energy every second.
Assumptions: Rest energy only; does not describe usable/extractable energy.
