ā³ Time Dilation Calculator

Move fast and time slows down. Calculate the Lorentz factor for any speed.

Results

Lorentz factor γ

0.9c check: γ ā‰ˆ 2.294

How it works

γ = 1 / √(1 āˆ’ v²/c²) Ā· dilated time = γ Ɨ proper time

Einstein showed that a moving clock ticks slower as seen from a stationary frame. At everyday speeds the effect is tiny (but GPS satellites must correct for it); near light speed it becomes enormous.

Assumptions: Special relativity, inertial frames, no gravity.
